World Cup DH5, Durango Lightning, rain and powercuts plagued the 5th round of the WC DH series this weekend in Durango, USA. Problems such as a timing system outage (long live the SA system?) with the last 5 guys to go down, the ski-lifts being stopped due to heavy lightning and other mishaps made this round one to remember. The mens DH was won by Mikael Paskal, followed closely by Eric Carter and finally Colin Bailey. Missy Giove had to settle for third place in her home town as Anne-Caro took the win followed by UK's Tracey Moseley - who is having her best ever WC season.

World Cup DH 4, Canada Grouse mountain, the venue which replaced the Whistler DH, held its first ever World Cup this past Sunday. South Africa's Greg Minnaar finished an impressive 4th, just 1 second off winner Fabien Barel (GT) - but still beat Nicolas Vouilloz who finshed 5th. A Good Weekend Alright! Gary Barnard retained his DH title at Knysna (although Chris did come second with only 4 previous runs!). New start to the old course, and a cool new finish. Bridgette Minnaar, despite being hit by another cyclist in a nasty accident took the ladies title again this year. A full set of results and pics from both the XC and DH will be up by Tuesday. Forgive us, we just got in right now after a 6 hour nonstop drive....

Off to Knysna Ready to leave at last, its going to be a long journey - Chris Nixon and I are travelling together. I think he stands a good chance to win the DH race tomorrow (with virtually no practice). Hopefully I can find an internet connection and keep you posted once the race is finished. Racing Galore! Just returned from PMB which hosted a very successful 3rd leg of the SAMBA National series. The XC course was a killing 7,2Km loop through the WorldsView forest. The DH course was a steep pedally affair - and all the riders voted it amongst the best this year. The Dual was a shocking affair - but riders made the most of it and pleased the crowds. A FULL race report will be up on the news pages before I go to Knysna on Thursday.
